2/28/26: Connor Storrie | Mumford & Sons
Iran War Address
I got a laugh from JAJTrump’s line about how his Board of Peace became “bored of peace”. But I didn’t need the word play acknowledgement afterwards. It’s starting to become an issue I have with JAJ’s impression of Trump, where it’s becoming too self-aware of the funny lines with little comments after them about how good the line was. It just feels forced in my opinion.
Trump: I can do one foreign war and possibly one Civil!
Trump, on why America is attacking Iran: It’s to cause immeasurable fear, rage, and chaos in the SNL writers room.
It's always nice to see Colin’s Pete Hegseth impression.
I say this every time, but Colin’s frat boy energy as Pete Hegseth is really funny, and Colin is performing great here.
Ha, I freakin’ LOVE the small section where Colin and JAJ talk about how underrated the Nintendo GameCube is.
Wow, a fairly short cold open, at least for this era's standards. Not complaining though.

Monologue
As expected, a very hot crowd for Connor.
Pretty funny moment with Connor showing a clip from the show that was appropriate for “the whole family” and it was only 1 second.
Connor’s confident asides to a side camera are decent.
We get cameos from the male hockey players that won the Olympics.
Quinn or Jack idk: I got my teeth knocked out in the finals, does that happen on your show?
Connor: Metaphorically…
And now we get cameos from the female hockey players that won the Olympics. And wow, HUGE applause for their appearance.
This whole section of the monologue was okay, but didn’t really feel comedic.

Mr. Fronzi
Connor’s dancing at the beginning of this is hilarious.
Marcello right out the gate is being VERY Marcello here. It would later be revealed that Marcello’s teacher character here is based on a real teacher he actually had.
While this sketch probably means a lot to Marcello, I’m not caring for it so far. I usually enjoy Marcello’s sketches (which I’m aware I’m in the minority of) but the voice Marcello is using for this character is pretty annoying.
Yeah this sketch is going NOWHERE so far. There doesn’t feel like there is a point to this.
Ok, I do like the turn this is taking, with Connor doing an impression of Mr. Fronzi. It’s actually pretty funny.
Ok, I did like Marcello saying “Really guys?” after walking in on Connor doing the impression.
Pretty funny ending with everyone in the class doing an impression of Mr. Fronzi.

The Gentlemen’s Code
Ha, I really like all the slaps Mikey and Connor give each other and saying “How dare you?”.
Ha, really funny moment with Kenan punching Mikey after he slapped him.
HILARIOUS moment with Andrew kicking Ashley’s small son after he slapped Ashley.
Another great moment with a dog slapping Connor.
A short, but very sweet pre-tape.
Rating: ***½
Ice Skating
Ha, good start to this, with Mikey, Connor, and Ben being gleeful Ice Skating, while Tommy and Veronika are having a very serious conversation.
Connor: God, I love being in my 40s!
Obligatory cameo from Connor’s Heated Rivalry castmate, Hudson Williams. And wow, he got HUGE applause. You can see Veronika start to break when the audience is still applauding.
Another very funny moment with the Ice Skating train, performed by Mikey, Ben, Connor, and Hudson.
Connor: If I fall, Kendrick Lamar is gonna have to find a new producer!
Great ending with Tommy joining the guys in the Ice Skating rink.
Rating: ***½
Tutoring the Cool Kid
Ha, I like the cliche “Cool Kid and Nerd” setup this has so far.
A very funny turn, with Ben performing a song on a keyboard thanking Connor for coming to his house.
The cuts to Connor during the song are pretty funny.
JAJ is freakin’ FANTASTIC as Ben’s cheesy dad.
A great dark reveal that Ben has a “very long cold”.
Connor: As that ice skating girl with the striped hair taught us, you can be a baddie even if you're a lil perked up.
Another funny song with JAJ and Ashley performing it.
Good ending with Connor performing a song.

Weekend Update
Colin, about Trump’s record longest speech: It lasted almost two whole diapers.
Lots of groaners so far, and they are making me groan, but not laugh.
Che, about Trump’s list of his Black Friends: Wow, that’s more than you Colin!
Nice to see Veronika make her debut behind the Update desk.
I really like this concept, with Veronika talking about the cartel with the typical delivery of a Bachelorette. Veronika is performing very well here, as expected.
Veronika’s constant “No, but seriously…” lines are really funny.
I love the dark turn with Veronika talking about the Epstein files.
Pretty short overall, but a great first impression for Veronika behind the desk. I’m hoping she gets another commentary before the season ends.
Che, about the man who promoted “Run-Walk-Run” passing away: Cause of death was listed as “Run-Walk-Bus”.
Oh my god, we get a surprise return of Colin’s “Hear Me Out” segment from last season. This particular subject is very funny for this segment.
Colin, about Stephen Hawking at Epstein’s Island: What was he supposed to do, walk away?
Blah, we get the return of “Sarah plays an animal” on Update.
Yeah, I understand what Sarah is going for with her acting similar to how women typically were on Jerry Springer-type shows, but I’m not caring for this AT ALL. It’s honestly somehow worse than her commentaries typically are.
I’m not sure we need Marcello appearing as Punch, the baby gorilla.
Yeah, the sentimental turn isn’t doing anything for me.

Leg Lengthening
A fairly big night for Marcello.
Okay reveal with Marcello’s very long legs.
Eh, I’m not really caring for this so far, with Marcello’s pain sounds with the awkward walking. It also feels like this sketch is coming maybe a year too late.
I don’t know how to feel about the reveal Connor got his legs shortened for Marcello.
Wow, what an awful ending! With Mikey, smiling cheesily into the camera.
Rating: **
Office Dance
Interesting start, with Connor wanting an Office Dance.
So far, this sketch is more interesting than funny. It feels like this sketch doesn’t know what it wants to be so far.
Not really caring for Andrew in this sketch. His chair falling over felt pretty desperate. This also unfortunately continues Andrew’s weak season so far.
I don’t know how to feel about Kenan saying “I’d hit it” when JAJ takes off his glasses, and looks model-esque into the camera.
I don’t know how to feel about the dance proposal Connor gives to Ashley, and Mikey revealing they’re both married didn’t work for me.
We get a sketch appearance from Mumford & Sons. They performed pretty well here, but again, not much here was noteworthy.
I honestly don’t know how to feel about this sketch. I honestly had no idea what it was going for, and it felt very all over the place. It wasn’t awful, just confusing.

Stripper
Here’s a piece that Connor actually performed at the Groundlings.
Decent walk-on, with Connor as a very injured stripper.
Jane: I just hope his penis is unscathed!
Ha, I love Ashley’s VERY visible discomfort while Connor struggles to get to Ashley.
Ashley: Wow, he’s using his plumber to crawl towards me! That’s so… hot.
The audience is LOVING this so far, which isn’t a surprise.
Connor is performing this very well so far, but other than the bit I mentioned above with Ashley, this isn’t anything great.
Rating: **½
Thoughts
A mixed episode. The first half was mostly good, but everything from Update to the end of the show ranged from subpar to flat out weak. And even with there being good stuff, nothing in this episode stood out as strong. Connor Storrie was good when he was utilized, but as usual with most of the hosts this season, he was fairly underutilized.
